Audio description is a voice-over narrative that explains what's happening on screen for the benefit of blind or visually impaired viewers. Scripted and styled to fit into the gaps between dialogue, it describes everything that sighted people can see, from body language and facial expressions to action sequences, locations, scenery and costumes.

However, it is not just limited to films and TV programmes; all types of productions can benefit from AD, whether it's subtitles, adverts, corporate promos or public information films. A visit to a sports event, play, exhibition, museum or gallery can be hugely enhanced by audio description. There really are no boundaries.
